Under the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture, and Lands sponsorship, the Cayman Islands Cadets Corps (CICC) is a youth development organization with cadet membership reserved for male and female high school students the ages of 11 and 16.
The programme is administered by full-time members who serve in the CICC as Officers and Adult Instructors, supported by a team of enthusiastic volunteers from a cross-section of the Caymanian community.
As a part of CICC, the marine detachment comprises everyday young people interested in seamanship, the military, or other seagoing careers.
CICC’s Marine Detachment aims to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of genuine service to the community while developing the qualities of a good citizen. Participants will be exposed to all the facets of maritime life and learn about -
The programme is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment while instilling self-esteem, teamwork and self-discipline.
Training activities will offer the tools to acquire marine communication or engineering skills. Cadets will also learn about discipline, self-respect, teamwork and leadership skills in all classes. Participants also get an opportunity to experience the rich history of Cayman waters.
Member of the Marine detachment will also be given such opportunities to travel overseas, attend local and regional camps and pursue a BTEC Diplomas in Public Service or Music.
